Is located on the north-eastern tip of India, bordering Bhutan on the west, China on the north, Myanmar on the east and the states
of Assam on the south. Part of the Eastern Himalayan ranges, this state covers 83,743 sq. km., with climate varying from sub- tropical in the south to alpine in the north. Evergreen forest covers more than 60 % of the state area. Besides the streams, rivers, mountains and peaks, its’ endless variations of scenic beauty are the first to greet sunrise in the country. A river of gold flows through this exotic land of dawn-lit mountains. And that’s only the beginning of the story. Mysterious, Powerful & Beautiful,
with faces and moods that change dramatically ever so often, rivers with distinctive individualities form the colorful lifelines of Arunachal Pradesh-the land kissed by the first rays of the sun. It finds mention in the ancient literature such as the Kalika Purana, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. It was here that Parasuram washed away his sins, Vyasa meditated, Bhismaka founded his kingdom, Lord Krishna married his consort Rukmini, and King Balinarayan drew men for his armies from among the hardy people. The 6th Dalai Lama was born and the 13th found refuge on the soil of Arunachal.. A land tourists were not alloed in at one time, is
Now Open to ALL !!!!

Arunachal provides a host of sites of tourist interest. It's capital at Itanagar tells the story of the Ita Fort built in the
fourteenth century by King Ramchandra of Mayapur. Mallini Than is another unique site that goes back to the 10th and 12th century. It has an ancient temple housing sculptures of gods and goddesses of the Hindu iconographic school. Parasuram
Kund and the Brahma Kund in the Lohit district are sacred places that attract thousands of pilgrims to take a dip in their holy waters and purge themselves of their sins. Bismaknagar and its fort in the Dibang valley are memorials to the Bhagwat Gita,
story of Lord Krishna’s visit there and his elopement with a local girl, Rukmini. The Tawang Monastery, constructed in
the 17th century, houses a big library of holy books, some of which are written in gold letters. Situated atop a ridge and
surrounded by thick clouds and mist, it seems to be hanging in ethereal space. Such historical sites apart, Arunachal
has a large number of beauty spots at various altitudes where one may relax and refresh oneself in a pollution-free
environment. There are waterfalls, glades, forest groves where one may picnic, camp or relax in an available rest
house. Arunachal provides you with a choice of Adventure Tourism such as angling, boating, white water rafting,
in river Siang (Brahmaputra), Lohit, Kameng, Dibang and their tributaries. There are unexplored trekking and hiking
areas to choose from the foothills to the high altitudes. Elephant riding, jeep safari, climbing, mountaineering,
cycling in this part of the world is worth experiencing.
Items that could make excellent buys are Serdukpen shawls, Apatani jackets and scarves, Adi skirts, Mishmi
shawls, blouses and jackets, wancho bags. There are Craft- Centers at Bomdila and Tawang producing very fine carpets
of colourful designs and works. Carpets in ethnic Tibetan designs are very popular, made of pure wool, one inch
pile, forty eight knots per sq.inch.
