Kerala, commonly known as “God’s own country” is one of India’s most enchanting destinations. Its picturesque
backwaters, meandering through a series of canals and lakes, are a unique feature. The backwaters of Kerela are unique
and unlike anything else in the world. In essence, the backwaters are a network of lakes, canals, estuaries and deltas of 44
rivers that drain into the Arabian Sea. The backwaters of Kerela are a self supporting eco-system teeming with aquatic life.
The canals connect the villages together and are still used for local transport. Over 900 km of this labyrinthine water world
is navigable.The largest backwater stretch in Kerela is the Vembanad Lake which flows through three districts and opens
out into the sea at the Kochi Port. The Astamudi Lake, literally having eight arms, which covers a major portion of Kollam
district in the south, is the second largest and is considered the gateway to the backwaters. Snake-boats are used to race

Vrinda is an exclusive cruiser with only 8 tastefully appointed Luxury Cabins, located on the Lower Deck, all with
king size beds and windows overlooking the lake.The dining room on board Vrinda offers a selection of both international
and regional cuisine. Also on the Upper Deck are the Lounge and Bar. Breakfast on the sun deck at sunrise is just one
magical experience of many to remember on this trip. Cabins on board are elegantly decorated, and have wooden floors.
Each has its own private well-appointed bathroom with shower. Comfortable furniture, TV and DVD players ensure that
guests can rest and relax at night in preparation for an active day’s sightseeing. Each cabin is also provided with an

Reaching Cochin

	Cochin has regular domestic flights to Agatti, Bangalore, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Goa, Madras and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum - the capital of Kerala). Currently, there are also regular international flights to the Arabian Gulf countries. Flights to other destinations will start soon. Other international airports nearby includes Mumbai, Madras, Bangalore and Trivandrum.
	Cochin has a magnificent all weather natural port. Regular boat service to places like Kottayam and Alleppey are available through the scenic backwaters of Kerala
	Three important National Highways pass through or start from Cochin, apart from many state roads. NH 47 from Kanyakumari to Salem pass right through the heart of Cochin while NH 17 to Mumbai and NH 49 to Madurai (in Tamil Nadu) starts from Kochi. Private and public transport services are available to and from all major cities of South India from here
	Cochin is connected to the rest of India by an extensive network of rails. Cochin has two main railway stations, Ernakulam Junction and Ernakulam Town. Many important trains start from here and many others pass through these stations.
