JOMSOM-
GATEWAY TO UPPER "MUSTANG KINGDOM" In
the middle of high Himalayan settlements of Thakali speaking people at
8800ft (2800m) is a serene village called Jomsom, also
known
as Dzongsam or New Fort spread over both the banks of the Kali Gandaki
river. This deluxe resort is the only "green resort"
in
Nepal. The towering peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri form an attractive
backdrop. Life here is a balance of hard work & ancient
culture.
It is often thought of as an attractive and even romantic example of high
- altitude settlement.There
is no other resort in
the
world from where the Himalayan peaks can be
admired so closely. Giants of the Himalayan Ranges like Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri
and
the
Annapurna Range seems almost at touching distance. This area is not only
the most popular trekking destination in Nepal but
also
the gateway to the Upper Mustang "Kingdom" within the Hindu Kingdom of
Nepal and to The Muktinath shrine that holds
great
religious significance to both the Buddhists and Hindus. Many visitors
find their most lasting impression of Nepal comes
not
from the ancient temples in the urban valleys but from visits to places
like Jomsom and its exhilarating environment.
Every
room offers unparalleled view of the majestic Nilgiri mountain (7061 m).
If you love the mountains and are also environmentally conscious about
their preservation, then this is the holiday you've been dreaming about.
A holiday in Jomsom will relieve your mind of tensions, cleanse your soul
and revitalize your body! Rustic and starkly built to blend in with the
local ambience, JMR is an architectural wonder. Every piece of the resort,
except the stones, was flown to the location from Kathmandu and Pokhara.
From coffee tables to TV sets, every single piece was painstakingly put
into place to create this wonder. Offering all modern facilities in a land
that seems to have been captured in a time capsule, Jomsom Mountain Resort
is truly a Himalayan oasis. The resort is 15 minutes uphill walk from the
airport.

by road and air which is about 30 minutes by air and 6 hours by road. Jomsom
flights are held early in the morning. The
skies
are usually clear with little or no clouds covering the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri
Ranges of the Himalayas. Some have called this
the
most fascinating mountain flight in the world. Guests are thrilled even
before they reach the Resort at Jomsom. The views from
Jomsom
are enchanting as the Nilgiri (7,061 m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167m) ranges
