The main trekking areas in Himachal are the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges, routes over the passes between the Shimla region and the Kullu valley, the numerous treks out of Kullu and select tracks in the Trans- Himalayan regions of Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti. Most trekking areas are between 1,500 metres & 6,000 metres.
With well over two hundred and seventy defined trails, the variation in terrain is also enormous. Low scrub-land and paths through paddy fields, give way to trails strewn with pine needles. Then come woods of oak and flowering rhododendron, which merge into forests of Himalayan cedar -'deodar' - and spruce. On most trails, small pastoral hamlets dot the way. Cunningly hidden between the high mountains, are passes which were once known only to migrant shepherds and dare-all traders. And these lead to the fabulous wastes and swift rivers of the arid Trans-Himalaya. C'MORE has explored new treks in Kinnaur and Spiti areas which were till now
a forbidden land for tourists, but fortunately now has been opened for the daring and adventurous people world wide, few years back. In a marked contrast from the beautiful alpine meadows in Kinnaur one finds the barren terrain of the "Cold desert" of Spiti with a land scope like beauty. Manali is another major
hill resort beyond Kulu in the Kulu Valley. Set amidst lovely forests of towering  cedars, circled by snowy peaks and the unending roar of the river Beas as a constant companion, Manali offers marvellous opportunities for trekking. Short treks go to Solang Nallah, Beas Kund, and Nagger and the more serious treks go to Keylong and Chandratal Lake (4200m) and across Baralacha Pass (4800m). At the head of the Kulu Valley lies Rohtang Pass (4000m) the gate way to Lahaul and Spiti
Valley. While the Kulu Valley is richly vegetated, Lahaul-Spiti Valley has in contrast a largely glaciated topography. The two valleys represent diverse cultures and folk. There is much to see by way of temples, Tibetan Monasteries, the fossils of Spiti Valley and the variety of flora and fauna in this haven of natural beauty.
